Here's some of what Clint Dempsey had to say tonight after his goal started the Sounders on their way to a 2-2 draw with the LA Galaxy:
On his goal: It was a ball played in. Oba had a touch on it, and then just put it on target, put it on frame.
On the match: We knew it was going to be a difficult game, that there was going to be a lot of energy in the crowd because of the importance of the game depending on the result. But after going two goals down, to fight back and get a point, we feel good about that.
On the next game: Just keep going. Play our style. I thought we did that. I thought we played some good ball. I thought we created some good opportunities.
Never miss a local story.
We leave with a good feeling. We got a point. And we go intot he final knowing if we get a draw or get a win we’ll finish at top.
On perhaps meeting LA in Western finals: You never know what can happen in the playoffs. That’s the craziness of it. Focus on what you can focus on, and that’s the next game really.
On the Saturday finale: It will be a difficult game. It will be an important game. An exciting game. I think our fans will be up for it. We’ll be up for it. That’s what it’s all about, playing in important games like that.
We take confidence in that if you keep moving, keep playing keep creating, that you’re going to get your opportunities. I think weshowed that. We don’t give up, we keep fighting, and we do have that quality. But also we limited their chances as well. Even though they scored two, for the most part I thought that we played well. And in the second half when we got the goals back, we were the ones that kept pushing to try and get the winner. I feel good about our team’s character and look forward to the next game.
On his yellow card: I thought today we showed fight, we showed, I guess, street smarts with those tactical fouls.
