The Sounders announced today that more than 54,000 tickets have been sold for their noon Saturday match against the Los Angeles Galaxy. This will be their last home game of the regular season, and a win or draw brings the Supporters Shield to Seattle.
All of CenturyLink Field will be open, meaning a capacity of around 67,000.
"We want to sell out the place," coach Sigi Schmid said. "(There's benefit if Supporters Shield) motivates people to come out to the game. ... It’s a game that means a lot. It would be fantastic I know for our group. We’ve won a couple of Open Cups here in front of our fans, and to be able to win the Supporters Shield in front of our fans I think would be fantastic."
The Sounders need to draw 62,841 to establish a new MLS single-season home attendance record for the sixth straight season.
