The Sounders face another two-game week, each match with different challenges for the team ... and the viewing fans.
The club has announced that more than 60,000 tickets have been sold for Portland Timbers’ visit next Sunday. That already assures this as the largest home attendance of the season. But with the new seating sections opened in the south end of CenturyLink Field, it also raises the possibility of bettering the exisiting club record attendance of 67,385, which turned out for the Timbers in 2013.
However, there could be considerably fewer eyeballs following the Sounders on Wednesday when they continue CONCACAF Champions League group play against CD Olimpia in Honduras. Something official is expected from the club soon, but for now it looks like the game will be shown only on the Fox Sports Plus channel and the Fox Sports Go mobile/tablet/online site.
However, the club is hoping to arrange a viewing party -- details to come if it’s confirmed. Plus, the game will be heard as usual on 97.3-FM.
