The Sounders went through their final training Friday before meeting Toronto FC at 7 p.m. Saturday at CenturyLink Field. Designated players Clint Dempsey, Obafemi Martins and Nelson Valdez all participated again, and afterward coach Sigi Schmid continued to seem optimistic that the three are likely to play together for the first time.
More from Schmid:
On his DPs: They’ve all gone through the whole week of practice: No issues, so expectations are good.
On how certain he is of their best roles playing together: That will become clear once they actually play in a game. Everybody’s running pattern, running energy, is different in a game. The games really start to identify what’s the best shape, what’s the best formation to use them in.
On Andres Ivanschitz: He’s doing better. Yesterday he was able to get through all of training, no setbacks. Today we wanted to make sure he could strike the ball and didn’t have any repercussions there.
On Toronto: Obviously they’re a talented team and they’ve got some good players. With Giovinco and Bradley and Altidore, that’s a very strong group. So it’s just a matter of them continuing to play well. Cheyrou has done some very good things for them at midfield as well.
On Bradley: Michael brings a lot of energy at midfield. He’s good with his spacing. He’s a good passer from deep, and he’s a guy who finds his way into goal-scoring opportunities.
