The University of Washington volleyball team, coming off its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament, will play host to a regional in next season’s tournament at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, the NCAA announced Wednesday.

The other three regional sites are at Colorado State, Penn State and Texas.

The regional round will be played December 12-13.

Hamilton resigns

Former Georgia Tech star quarterback Joe Hamilton, who was named assistant director of player personnel for the Yellow Jackets’ football program on April 28, resigned from the position, one day after his arrest on drunk driving, hit-and-run, marijuana possession and open container charges.

Hamilton, the 1999 runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, was a little-used backup for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2000-02.
