The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department ramped up its swine flu outreach efforts Thursday, spurred by growing public frustration over a lack of H1N1 vaccine.
With resources provided by Pierce County, the Health Department launched a new “H1N1 Hotline,” a telephone call center staffed by county personnel to field questions, including where to find the vaccine.
The H1N1 information number is 253-798-7000. It will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Health Department also upgraded the H1N1 page at www.tpchd.org, promising to keep the site current with news updates, incidence data and availability announcements.
“Our goal is to provide information to people,” said Director of Health Dr. Anthony L-T Chen. “We’ve heard the frustrations, and we’re trying to do better.”
