Working hard to count those last-minute ballots

"We got hit really hard late," said Elections Manager Lori Augino Wednesday morning. Augino said she has 100 people working 2 shifts processing and tabulating ballots at the elections center.
Marilyn Strickland maintains a 171-vote lead over Jim Merritt for Tacoma mayor in results released at 5:30 this morning; Julie Anderson still leads incumbent Jan Shabro in the race for Pierce County auditor; No more results until 6 p.m. today.
