Snow could fall as low as 1,000 feet overnight as a cold front continues to vex mountain pass travelers and delight early season skiers and snowboarders.
The National Weather Service says the front that moved through Western Washington on Friday brought 3 to 8 inches of snow to the Olympics and Cascades.
Forecasters expected another 1 to 2 inches Friday evening, but as much as 10 inches from Stevens Pass to Snoqualmie Pass because of the Puget Sound convergence zone.
The State Patrol closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass because of multiple spinouts Thursday morning. Traction tires were required or advised over mountain passes Friday.

With 7 inches of new snow that fell early Friday, The Summit at Snoqualmie ski resort will be open today and Sunday with limited operations.
The Summit West base area will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
“We are ecstatic for this early season opening, especially with the promise of more snow predicted next week,” said Dan Brewster, general manager, in a news release.
Brewster said the area will be closed Monday and Tuesday, and the staff is planning to reopen Wednesday, if conditions permit.
The staff members at Stevens Pass will assess the mountain early Monday morning to determine if there is enough snow to open.
Crystal Mountain was the first of the Cascade areas to open, drawing 3,000 skiers and snowboarders when it began operations Wednesday. It was followed by Mount Baker on Thursday and White Pass on Friday.
