The Pierce County man accused of organizing a cockfighting ring near Kapowsin pleaded not guilty Monday to multiple charges, including animal fighting.
In addition to the animal fighting count, Christopher J. Hindermann, 38, is charged with manufacture, possession and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, manufacture of marijuana and possession of another controlled substance.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge Kitty-Ann van Doorninck set bail at $75,000. Hindermann was arrested Friday after Pierce County sheriff’s deputies raided his property in the 32400 block of Meridian Avenue East. Deputies found hundreds of suspected pot plants, more than 50 fighting roosters, drugs and multiple weapons, including assault rifles.
Ernest Henry Gugger, 51, also charged in connection with the case, but has not been found.
