The Washington Department of Transportation traffic is predicting 20 percent higher than normal traffic volumes on Sunday. The WSDOT is encouraging eastbound motorists to leave early or plan for an extra hour of travel time in the afternoon.
The WSDOT and construction crews are working on a concrete preservation project on on I-90 from Easton (milepost 70) near Cle Elum (milepost 80). Due to the construction, drivers can expect lane closures. On Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., crews will open two lanes in the westbound direction and restrict eastbound to one lane. Motorists may experience heavy congestion at times.
From Sunday night through Friday morning crews will restrict eastbound and westbound I-90 to one lane. Travelers may experience moderate congestion at times and some added travel time.
In addition, crews will close the westbound on-ramp at Golf Course Road interchange (Exit 78) and the westbound on-ramp and off-ramp at West Nelson interchange (Exit 74).
The weather forecast is calling for rain and snow Monday night through the rest of the week.
