The Seattle International Stand-Up Comedy Competition comes to Puyallup’s Liberty Theatre Thursday for a semifinals show. Past participants in the competition, which began in 1980, include Patton Oswalt and Mitch Hedberg.
The competition consists of 23 shows performed over 26 days in 19 venues in Western Washington. This year 32 professional comedians are competing for more than $15,000 in cash prizes. The winner will be chosen at the “Final-Final” show at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Seattle’s Moore Theatre. This year’s comedians come from New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Boston, Austin, Charlotte, Miami, Montreal, Chicago and Sydney, Australia. The 2007 winner, Marcus, became the runner-up on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
