Gig Harbor will light up for the holidays on Dec. 6

Gig Harbor’s annual tree lighting ceremony will take place on Dec. 6 at Skansie Brothers Park.

The event begins with holiday carols sung by The Dickens Carolers at 5 p.m. and a visit from Rhubarb, the Tacoma Rainiers mascot reindeer.

Santa will arrive at 5:30 p.m. via the Gig Harbor Fire Department ladder truck to light the tree with Gig Harbor Mayor Jill Guernsey. The tree is donated by Joint Base Lewis McChord and will stand 45 feet tall.

Santa hats will be given to kids and free coffee, hot chocolate, cider and cookies will be available inside the Skansie Net Shed. The park is located at 3211 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor.

Santa will be available following the tree lighting to meet with children and hear their holiday wishes.
