Johnny Mathis to perform at October benefit concert in Tacoma

It’s not for him to say but we can tell you: Singer Johnny Mathis is coming to Tacoma to perform his greatest hits and other favorites at the Pantages Theater on Oct. 8.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show start at $89 and are on sale for Broadway Center for the Performing Arts members now and to the general public at 11 a.m. Jan. 12. The show benefits arts education.

Mathis is Columbia Records’ longest-running artist with a career that has lasted 59 years. His hits include “Chances Are,” “It’s Not For Me To Say,” “Wonderful, Wonderful” and “Misty.”

Mathis has recorded more than 80 albums and six Christmas albums, had three songs inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and achieved 50 Hits on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Chart. In 2003, Mathis was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
