Katie Bates Clark Reveals Where Marriage to Travis Clark Stands After His Affair
Bringing Up Bates' Katie Bates Clark is opening up about her marriage to Travis Clark four months after he confessed to an extramarital affair.
"Marriage can be hard at times and unfortunately what Travis did certainly did not make things easier," Katie shared in a Q&A posted to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, May 20. "Trav and l are working through things and making really good progress, but there are definitely still hard days. With God's help we're both continuing to show up for each other and our children as we work through this difficult time."
The mom-of-two also revealed she began seeing a therapist shortly after the affair became public in January.
"The first time I really got connected with a therapist was back in February and it's genuinely been life changing for me," Katie said. "I didn't realize how much I needed it until I finally started opening up and working through things. It's helped me understand myself better, process difficult emotions in a healthier way, and I truly think it's been one of the best decisions I've made for myself."
The affair is not the only hardship Katie has faced in the past few months, either. Elsewhere in the Q&A, she opened up about a family rift, noting she "lost relationships" with "90%" of her family after speaking out about a past trauma.
Additionally, days before Travis's affair went public in January, Katie shared online that she had recently suffered a miscarriage.
When a fan asked her how she was doing during the Q&A, Katie responded, "Honestly, the answer to this question depends on the day you ask me and sometimes even the hour."
"I feel like I'm doing pretty good overall. I definitely still have moments of frustration and sadness, but I'm also carrying a lot of hope and happiness too," she continued. "I don't think there's a perfect way to handle everything, but I'm trying my best and trying to give myself grace through it all."
Katie and Travis married in December 2021 and share children Hailey, 3, and Harvey, 1. They are best known for starring in Katie's family's upTV reality series, Bringing Up Bates, which documented Katie's parents, Gil and Kelly Jo Bates, and their 19 children for 10 seasons from 2015 to 2021.
