Bowls filled
Enjoy gourmet soup prepared by area chefs and help feed the hungry at the Emergency Food Network’s Empty Bowls fundraiser from 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Charles Wright Academy, 7723 Chambers Creek Road W., Tacoma. The annual ritual is enjoyed by more than 500 people each year. Choose from more than 1,200 bowls to purchase for the home and for holiday gifts. Now we can laugh
Make it a night of laughs and chuckles at the Still Standing show, featuring Ty Barnett, Shawn Lawrence and Dan McKown. Standing against racism, intolerance and hatred, the show commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Tacoma Mall shooting with part of the proceeds to benefit the Crime Victims Compensation Program. Produced by Comedy Kaleidoscope, guests will include Rick Anderson and Kris Brannon. There will be two shows — Working Clean at 7 p.m. and Comics Uncensored at 9 p.m. The event takes place at the Rialto Theater, 310 S. Ninth St., Tacoma. Travel around the world with the Tacoma Concert Band at its “Hands Across the Sea” concert at Pantages Theater, 901 Broadway, Tacoma. Steven Mead, euphonium soloist, will be featured playing several works in his first appearance in the Northwest. Vintage shopping at its best, the Great Junk Hunt Holiday Market will feature vendors selling all kinds of vintage goods, junk and fun. The two-day sale — 6-9 p.m. Friday (Nov. 20) and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday — is at the Pavilion, Washington State Fair Events Center, 110 Ninth Ave. SW, Puyallup. Letting the stars dance
