Join in Tacoma’s celebration and kickoff of the holiday season at the 70th annual Holiday Tree Lighting in front of the Pantages Theater, 901 Broadway. The free community event is a tradition of music, Santa’s arrival, photos and fun for the family. It begins at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Show goes to the dogs

Make the start of the holiday season a day with the dogs at the Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience shows at the Pantages Theater, 901 Broadway, Tacoma. The show is all about amazing tricks, air stunts, dancing dogs and athletic feats. Come to the early show at 2:30 p.m. or come after the tree lighting ceremony for the 7:30 p.m. show Saturday. Tickets are $15 and $29, and are available by phone or online; 253-591-5894, broadwaycenter.org.

Wednesday — Dec. 6

Christmas Victorian style

Join in the annual tradition of the Victorian Country Christmas festival opening Wednesday at the Washington State Fair and Events Center, 110 Ninth Ave. SW, Puyallup. It’s a Victorian fantasy village featuring 530 exhibits decorated to look like Victorian shops with thousands of holiday gifts, handcrafted items and specialty foods. Professional entertainment is featured on two stages, along with a Singing Nativity. Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Dec.4-5 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 6. Improv sketch comedy in Kent

With theaters in Chicago and Toronto, The Second City is known as a leading brand in improv-based sketch comedy. Its touring company is bringing “Holidazed & Confused” show to the Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center, 10020 SE 256th St., Kent. The adult show takes an irreverent looks at the crazy, stressful side of the holidays, all with a laugh. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. Thursday show are $15-$30. Call 253-856-5051 for more information.

Singalong “Mamma Mia”

Join in Olympia’s annual holiday singalong at the Washington Center for Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE., Olympia. This year it will be celebrating all things ABBA with the selection of “Mamma Mia” the movie. Don your finest 1970s garb for the costume contest, go through a fun warm-up and chime in during the movie. The fun begins at 5 p.m. Sunday. Ghostly Christmas with Trans-Siberian Orchestra

On its Winter Tour 2015: The Ghosts of Christmas Eve, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra brings its rock holiday tradition to Key Arena, 305 Harrison St., Seattle. With a mission to push the boundaries of rock music, the group has been performing since 1996. There will be two shows, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday with tickets ranging from $34-$72. Hey Alvin!

Take the kids up to the Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine St., Seattle, for the national touring “Alvin and the Chipmunks — The Musical.” The interactive stage show brings the famous chipmunk trio to life encouraging audience participation. Grammy-winning guitarist in Seattle

Having been recognized as a cornerstone of the American music landscape, guitarist and Grammy Award-winning Warren Haynes bring fresh blood into the heart of soul and blues. He is known for his work with Gov’t Mule and the Allman Brothers Band. He is coming with his band, The Ashes & Dust Band, to The Moore Theatre, 1932 Second Ave., Seattle, for a 7:30 p.m. show Wednesday.
