Textile glaciers? You bet. “Elements of Power: Capturing the Icelandic Landscape,” now up at Pacific Lutheran University’s Scandinavian Cultural Center, links Iceland’s unique terrain with its use of geothermal energy, expressed through the textile art of Sigrun Lara Shanko.
Held in conjunction with the Seattle Nordic Heritage Museum’s “Taste of Iceland” festival, the exhibit explores Icelandic glaciers, rivers, lava fields and northern lights in work by this international artist.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 22; artist reception is 5-8 p.m. Oct. 16 — all at PLU’s Scandinavian Cultural Center, 12180 S. Park Ave., Tacoma. plu.edu/scancenter
