Critic’s Picks: Music at Mary Olson Farm, Jazz Under the Stars and more

MUSIC AT MARY OLSON FARM

Hear beautiful chamber music at twilight amid the calm landscape of Auburn’s historic Mary Olson Farm, thanks to musicians from the Auburn Symphony. Concerts begin this week with an American program of Dvorak, Copland and Ungar, with Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” thrown in. 7 p.m. July 9, then July 23, Aug. 6. $18 adult/$10 student/free for children under 5. JAZZ UNDER THE STARS AT PLU

Join Northwest jazz lovers in the amphitheater outside Pacific Lutheran University’s Lagerquist Hall for the university’s annual free Jazz Under the Stars series. Running Thursdays through Aug. 13, the series begins next week with Olympia singer LaVon Hardison. The final three concerts also include free star viewing at the Keck Observatory. 7 p.m. July 9, 16 (Duchess), 23 (Velocity), 30 (Roadstars), Aug. 6 (Stephanie Porter), and 13 (Jacqueline Tabor). HISTORIC POSTER SHOW

“Boycott! The Art of Economic Activism” exhibits 58 historic boycott posters from the last six decades, outlining social history through art including events like the Montgomery Bus Boycott, anti-apartheid protests, sweatshop factory boycotts and more. Organized by the American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker organization. Open noon-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thurdays; 1-5 p.m. Fridays-Sundays through July 16 (closed July 4). Free. DRIVE-IN MOVIES AT LEMAY

Drive-in movies are back in style, thanks to the LeMay-America’s Car Museum. A 40-foot outdoor screen with plenty of parking on the Haub Family Field (and a lawn for blankets and chairs) will screen shows like “Wild Hogs” (July 11), “Cars 2” (Aug. 8) and a people’s choice (Aug. 29).
