Great news for Mediterranean food lovers: Three weeks after a power pole fell on Ammar’s Mediterranean Grill, Ammar Mannaa will reopen his Tacoma Dome neighborhood restaurant.
Friday’s reopening will come with a party. DJ Illusion will play music from 6-10 p.m. and Mannaa has food and drink specials planned.
The downed pole on Dec. 29 caused a flood that damaged drywall and electrical outlets inside the restaurant. Mannaa said the damage was only cosmetic and repairs won’t be noticeable to diners.
Mannaa said he was relieved to reopen and put his family and staff back to work.

The table-service restaurant — with a menu of gyros, moussaka, hummus, falafel and a number of other Mediterranean favorites — opened in December 2012. The restaurant is an upscale version of Mannaa’s first restaurant, Mediterranean Palace, a counter-service Mediterranean restaurant he operates with his wife, Sorada, inside nearby Freighthouse Square. The Mannaas also own Ikonos, a fast-service Mediterranean restaurant in Gig Harbor that the couple purchased in 2013.
