I knew I'd hear from any place I left out of today's round-up of restaurants near the Puyallup fair.
I get "but-what-about-me?" calls all the time. Write about one rib joint, another calls to ask why I slighted theirs. I understand. I get irked when I feel I'm excluded from the party, too.
One of today's calls was unusual. The restaurant owner seemed to understand my explanation –- time and space being the two biggest motivators of what gets published when I have to visit and write about multiple restaurants for one 800-word story. Then he said, "We probably won't be open much longer anyway."
I can't say if writing about his restaurant would have saved his business. I'm even not sure what I would have written about his restaurant anyway. I ate there in late 2004 shortly after it opened. Each weekend I tried to eat there over the past three weeks, it was closed.
