TNT nightlife columnist Ernest Jasmin has been reporting on his Tacoma Rock City blog the details of the opening of Sax, a new Sixth Avenue nightclub that its owners are touting as a high-end dinner jazz club.
Depending on inspections and final details, owners Jenny and Andy Yee – who also own neighboring North China Garden restaurant – are aiming for an April 27 soft opening, with a grand opening to follow. The club will offer lunch and dinner daily, with happy hour daily from 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
They e-mailed us a first look at their menu.
At first glance, the lunch menu is very focused on sandwiches and burgers. The dinner menu seems focused on Italian/Mediterranean, but the menu does stray into other territory. Here, a quick look at the dinner menu. Each entree on the menu also includes by-the-glass wine recommendations:
Spicy Honey-Glazed Filet Mignon ($21), served over pineapple-mango salsa and almond rice pilaf.
Pan-Seared Jumbo Scallops ($22), served over a microgreen caprese salad.
Chicken Toscano ($15), grilled chicken with sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, capers, roasted garlic, lemon juice, basil and white wine.
Walnut & Gorgonzola Raviolis ($18), ravioli tossed in a creamy garlic and black pepper sauce. Topped with cranberries, sauteed pears and roma tomatoes.
Parmesan-Crusted Porkloin ($17), grilled porkloin topped with basil, roma tomatoes and parmesan, wrapped with bacon and served for pasta marinara.
Herb-Crusted Halibut Puttanesca ($24), served with garlic pasta and garden vegetables.
More details on the chef and the kitchen staff to come soon.
