In an era when restaurants are closing at what seems like an even faster than usual pace, it’s good news when restaurants expand.
LeLe’s Gig Harbor restaurant, the upscale outpost of the Tacoma Hilltop Thai and Vietnamese restaurant that opened last year, just expanded its restaurant to include a lounge; and Sumay, the Indian restaurant in Puyallup that opened just over a year ago, recently started an expansion. Click more to see what’s in store for both restaurants.

At LeLe Gig Harbor, owner LeLe Tran told me that her recently complete expansion has a lounge area that will have live entertainment on weekends. Performers Jennifer Lind and Douglas Barnett will perform at 7 p.m. Friday March 26, at the grand opening of the lounge. LeLe’s lounge will offer daily happy hour specials from 3 p.m.- 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to closing (appetizers are 40-50 percent off during happy hour).

At Sumay in Puyallup, owner Ramesh Kumar told me the restaurant plans to take over the check cashing business next door to the South Hill restaurant. They’ll break through the wall and add a lounge serving cocktails (they've already applied for the permit). On weekends, Kumar said he expects that the lounge will host karaoke and live music.
Tip: Both restaurants will be featured in a story I’m writing about eggplant on the menu. Read the story Friday in the GO entertainment section and here on TNT Diner.
