A taproom and bottle store is opening in the Stadium neighborhood. The Copper Door does not yet have an opening date, but work has started on the space at 12 N. Tacoma Avenue (next to Gibson’s Frozen Yogurt).
Owner Craig Moore has a background in craft beer in Portland. He’s originally from Tennessee, but moved to Portland to put his industrial design degree to use. He moved to Tacoma at the urging of a friend who had already moved here.
His corner location is 2,600 square feet and will be portioned into a taproom taking up about two-thirds of the space and a bottle shop encompassing the other third. He plans 24 rotating taps and intends to start with about 750 bottled brews in a refrigerated case, but hopes to offer up to 1,000 craft bottles.
Stay tuned for more details as the space is constructed. The immediate area is becoming a bonafide beer destination. The Harmon’s Hub and Taproom are a few blocks away and Tacoma Brewing Co. a few blocks beyond that. The Parkway Tavern is a handful of blocks in the other direction. Nearby Tacoma Wine Merchants also has a fine selection of craft brews.
