Martini Madness is back at Toscanos Cafe & Wine Bar in Puyallup. That’s the annual event featuring hand-painted martini glasses, which are given away to diners throughout March.
The themes and colors vary from year to year, as do the cocktails. Diners who order from the featured cocktail menu get the martini glass to keep. Glasses change every Monday, as do the cocktails.
This is the eighth year for the martini glasses, which chef-owner Tom Pantley said was something he started because he kept fighting a perception with diners that Toscanos only served wine. His solution? Give away free martini glasses with the order of specialty cocktails. “We had no idea how popular (it) would become. In the eight years we have given away about 14,000 hand-painted glasses,” said Pantley.
This year's cocktails range from an Elderflower Seabreeze - made with coconut vodka and elderflower liqueur - and a cocktail flavored with blood oranges and berries.
