“Is an Original House of Donuts really opening in Puyallup?”
It’s true, the Lakewood-based doughnut bakery is branching out a second time. Last year, it opened a location in downtown Tacoma.
On Thursday, it will open what owner Tom Peterson is calling “a micro drive-thru store” in downtown Puyallup in the parking lot of Skate Tiffany’s, the roller skating rink.
It’s the same size as a typical espresso stand, but instead of espresso, you’ll find a selection of the same doughnuts served at the 57-year-old bakery’s flagship location on Gravelly Lake Drive. They’ll serve drip coffee and doughnuts by the single or dozen.
“We’ll open at 4 a.m. You can order a dozen to go or you can call your order ahead,” said Peterson.
The doughnuts served will be made at the Lakewood bakery and transported to the Puyallup site, said Peterson.
The bakery also has expanded its footprint with two mobile food trucks. One will serve at this year’s Washington State Fair.
