A Puyallup woman won more than $50,000 for herself and a lucky viewer of “Wheel of Fortune” Thursday.

Kim Wells was a contestant on the long-running game show hosted by Pat Sajak and Vanna White.

Wells, a training officer for the U.S. Department of Education, was hoping to win enough money for a vacation with her husband. Included in her winnings: A vacation to Barbados.

Wells told the show that she’s watched “Wheel” for more than 20 years. She auditioned to be a contestant at a Wheelmobile event in Tacoma.

“Wheel” has a “Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway” promotion this week. A home viewer won a matching $50,328 in cash and prizes, thanks to Wells’ playing skills.

The show, on the air for 35 years, has given away nearly $2 million to home viewers through the “Secret Santa” promotion.

The show airs on KOMO channel 4 weekdays at 7 p.m.
