A Pierce County jury has reached a verdict in the trial of three Tacoma police officers who were charged in the death of Manuel Ellis in March 2020. After a ten-week trial, the panel of seven men and five women were tasked with deciding whether officers Matthew Collins and Christopher Burbank are guilty of second-degree murder or first-degree manslaughter. Officer Timothy Rankine is charged with first-degree manslaughter.
