More local jobs available as Amazon is still hiring
Good news: You have more opportunities to work at an Amazon fulfillment center, even if you missed Wednesday’s mega-hiring event.
The company’s staffing office, 21005 64th Ave. S. in Kent, will take applications and perform on-the-spot hiring for area jobs in the coming days.
According to its “Amazon Delivers Jobs” website, bit.ly/2vx4bLM, recruiting for part-time seasonal work will occur from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 4, 10 and 11.
Recruiting for full-time positions is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 7-9.
You will need to bring a qualifying photo ID, such as a U.S. passport, as explained on the website. It’s worth the time to read the requirements online because of the potential combination of supporting identification you might need.
You also can apply online at amazon.force.com or at amazondelivers.jobs.
In a statement emailed Wednesday to The News Tribune, Amazon said it would not break out specific local hiring numbers from Wednesday’s Kent event, but did note “hundreds of candidates” showed up for potential jobs.
The e-retailer was hiring for more than 1,200 full-time and part-time positions at its Kent, DuPont and Sumner facilities.
In an earlier announcement, the company said it was “poised to make thousands of on-the-spot, benefited offers to qualified candidates across the country in one day.”
Those benefits include Amazon’s Career Choice program, which offers retraining to employees for other careers.
The goal was for 50,000 to be hired, but the push brought 20,000 applicants nationwide, according to the company.
Amazon has openings other than for warehouse workers.
A search of the company job board Thursday showed thousands of open positions in Washington State alone, calling for all manners of skill sets, degrees and experience.
Among the openings were for a senior computer vision scientist and manager, risk investigations, where the department’s mission, from the job description, is to “make Amazon the safest and most trusted place on Earth by protecting the innocent and deterring the ill-intentioned.”
