Demolition is start of renovation at former grocery site in Gig Harbor

The site of the former Fred Meyer store in Gig Harbor for now is a demolition zone.

Following permits filed last year, the site is being renovated to make way for a new Ross Dress for Less store and Ulta Beauty.

In paperwork filed with the city in November, improvements are set to include reconstruction of the front of the building, addition of ADA parking stalls and associated grading.

Approval for a larger exterior retail sign for Ross than what is typically standard under the city’s sign code was approved by the deputy hearing examiner in October.

No further details, including a time line for the project, were immediately available.
