Hundreds of tech professionals and computer science students gathered Friday at the 14th annual South Sound Technology Conference. This year, themes emerged around basic infrastructure security, including panels on how a company can do a cyber-security audit and how to insure against cyber attacks. Lars Harvey, above, CEO of Tacoma-based IID, delivered the keynote about his company’s focus on sharing information about cyber-threats. Conference organizer and UWT instructor Andrew Fry, along with city of Tacoma economic development director Ricardo Noguera, said Tacoma soon may participate in an entrepreneurial effort called “1 Million Cups,” a program developed by the Kauffman Foundation to get local business owners to gather weekly and talk about their companies. firstname.lastname@example.org
