Talking tech in Tacoma

Hundreds of tech professionals and computer science students gathered Friday at the 14th annual South Sound Technology Conference. This year, themes emerged around basic infrastructure security, including panels on how a company can do a cyber-security audit and how to insure against cyber attacks. Lars Harvey, above, CEO of Tacoma-based IID, delivered the keynote about his company’s focus on sharing information about cyber-threats. Conference organizer and UWT instructor Andrew Fry, along with city of Tacoma economic development director Ricardo Noguera, said Tacoma soon may participate in an entrepreneurial effort called “1 Million Cups,” a program developed by the Kauffman Foundation to get local business owners to gather weekly and talk about their companies.
