Belarus airline orders new Boeing jets

The flag carrier of Belarus, Belavia Airlines, Thursday announced it has ordered three Next Generation Boeing 737-800 jets.

At list prices, the Renton-built, twin-engine aircraft are worth $272 million.

Belavia currently operates six 737-500 and seven 737-300 jets. The 737-800s ordered Thursday are the first updated Next Generation 737s Batavia has ordered.

The new aircraft will allow Belavia to expand its reach to new destinations including the Canary Islands and Dubai.

Belarus is located in Eastern Europe east of Poland, north of Ukraine and west of Russia. Belavia’s headquarters is in the capital, Minsk.
