Two Washington women, including one from Pierce County, have been charged with crimes following an investigation into insurance fraud by the Special Investigations Unit from the office of State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler.
Danielle R. Patrick, 38, has been charged in Pierce County Superior Court with felony insurance fraud and attempted second-degree theft, a misdemeanor, Kreidler’s office reported in a release Thursday.
According to the charges, Patrick filed a claim with her insurance company for $1,799, saying that her vehicle had been broken into on May 13, 2013, at her home in University Place.
She claimed six items, including a laptop computer, had been stolen. In attempting to prove her claim, investigators contend she provided a falsified receipt. Also, the charges allege, she sent a picture of the computer from her phone, but investigators discovered that the image was taken the day after she reported the computer stolen.
