Downtown Tacoma scavenger hunt ends with food and prizes

Personally I scavenge downtown Tacoma for news stories – and yummy dining spots. Over the Moon Cafe, Stink, Matador, Two Koi, Johnny’s, need I say more?

Which is why it might be good for my waistline if I participated in a different scavenger hunt, one sponsored by Walk Tacoma.

It’s free, all ages are welcome, you don’t have to register ahead of time, and there will be food, drinks and prizes at the end. What’s stopping you, really?

Here are the details:

Wednesday, Aug. 6, meet at the Social Bar and Grill at 1715 Dock St. between 4:30 and 5:30. There, you’ll get your list. Use your feet and public transportation to destinations throughout downtown, then meet back at Social at 6:45 p.m.

“Participants may complete the hunt as individuals or in teams,” according to a Walk Tacoma news release. “Many of the destinations on the hunt have been featured during the 2014 Walk Tacoma series or in the Walk Tacoma Downtown Walking Maps (available at the event).”

Bring a camera or your phone. You’ll need to take a photo at many of the locations.

Prizes include loaded ORCA cards, museum passes and movie tickets. The highest scoring individual and team will each win a grand prize. Follow Downtown On The Go on Facebook or Twitter for early clues.

The hunt is sponsored by Union Bank. The Walk Tacoma 2014 series is sponsored by Franciscan Health system.
