Plane transfers at Sea-Tac will be by Porsche for some elite flyers

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines will begin this month transferring some of its best customers between planes at Sea-Tac Airport in Porsche sedans.

The service will be available to Delta’s highest level Diamond Medallion customers when a situation calls for quick transport between gates.

The airline will use a variety of standards to decide who will be transported in the Porsche Panamera S hybrid sedans to their next gate. The service cannot be requested. Those chosen by the airline will be greeted at the aircraft door and escorted to the waiting vehicle with their luggage for the transfer.

Delta first implemented the service at its largest hub in Atlanta in 2011. The service was expanded to Los Angeles, New York JFK and Minneapolis-St. Paul in 2013. Along with Sea-Tac, the service will now reach customers at New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Delta in the last 24 months has made Sea-Tac its West Coast hub for international flights. The airline has flights from Sea-Tac to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo’s two airports, Haneda and Narita.
