Women save. Men, not so much.
That’s according to a survey out this week from the financial website couponcodespro.com. The survey tallied results from 3,268 fully employed adults in the U.S.
Women, it turns out, save an average of $231.89 per month.
Also, 58 percent of women responding to a list of possibilities said they save “for the future” while 54 percent save because they “don’t want to depend on others.” Thirty-one percent save “for my children,” 26 percent are “putting money aside for a special occasion” and 15 percent “want to travel the world.”
Male respondents were asked for reasons behind their lack of saving, and they also were provided with a list of possible responses.
Among the top five answers, 69 percent said they “would rather spend my money having fun” and 45 percent said there were “too many outgoings” that prevented saving.
