As the auction offering Haggen stores continued in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the union representing supermarket workers released a letter sent to members Tuesday.

“Representatives from UFCW locals and our international union are at the auction for the 95 Haggen stores taking place this week,” said the letter from UFCW Local 21 officials. “We are strongly presenting our position that these stores need to be bought by responsible store owners to ensure that our members can continue to provide for their families and give customers the great service that they expect.

“In addition, Haggen announced (Tuesday) that they have filed a motion to auction additional stores early next year.”

The new list, according to the letter, includes Haggen stores in Lake Tapps, at 1406 Lake Tapps Parkway E., and in Olympia at 1313 Cooper Point Rd. SW and at 3520 Pacific Ave. SE.
