The Foss Waterway Development Authority has named Norm Gollub, former coordinator of downtown economic development in Sarasota, Florida, as executive director to replace Su Dowie, who is retiring.
A selection committee has been working for at least four months to find a qualified successor, Dowie said Tuesday.
Following initial interviews and review, the committee offered the public a chance to meet the top candidates, she said. Some 30 candidates applied for the position.
Gollub, Dowie said, “has a real depth of experience. I think he’s going to be a real good fit for the community.”

Priorities as Gollub begins will include the completion of agreements concerning the $85 million Presbyterian Retirement Communities Northwest project as well as completing negotiations related to the Foss Harbor Marina project.
Also, Dowie said, Gollub will oversee general fundraising for a capital campaign that will center on two parks projected along the Foss.
