East Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a nearly 2-acre brush fire Friday south of the Falling Waters development south of Bonney Lake.
No homes were under threat from the blaze, which broke out just after noon, according to Assistant Chief Russ McCallion. McCallion said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
Orting Valley Fire & Rescue aided with the effort to control the fire, and the Washington state Department of Natural Resources deployed a helicopter to airdrop water.
Crews were able to create a wet line around the entire blaze and considered it under control by late afternoon.

McCallion said that while East Pierce crews were deployed to the fire, other districts were called in to respond to other fire calls under their jurisdiction. He said a number of brush fires were burning Friday because of weather conditions.
