A motorcyclist who died Tuesday after crashing into a concrete pillar in Tacoma has been identified as 60-year-old Robert Ewing.

Witnesses said Ewing was driving south on Interstate 705 about noon when he lost control of his bike and struck a bridge support near the state Route 7 extension.

Troopers said he did not appear to be speeding and was not impaired.

An investigation into what caused Ewing to lose control is ongoing.
