2 taken to hospital after Tacoma rollover, police say

Two people were hospitalized after a rollover crash in South Tacoma on Saturday morning, according to police.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 9 a.m. in the 5700 block of South Orchard Street, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

One person was taken to Tacoma General Hospital and another was taken to Allenmore Hospital, Cool said. Their conditions are unknown.

The driver’s Buick sedan ended up on its roof in the driveway of an apartment complex after taking down a light post.

Martin Johnson said the man was driving erratically behind him and was driving “pretty darn fast” before he struck his truck.

“He got around me and started going crazy and took off about a mile back there,” Johnson said.

Robert Enemark Jr. said he came within 30 feet of striking the man’s Buick with his own truck after the car lost traction and began to fishtail coming up a hill.

“He must have been going 80 or 90 (mph) by the time he got here,” Enemark said.

Both men said the driver appeared intoxicated.
