Tacoma Public Library will have a new director in 2018.
Kate Larsen will begin as director of Tacoma Public Library on Jan. 2. She comes from the Everett Public Library, where she is assistant director.
Larsen will replace library director Susan Odencrantz, who is retiring after 20 years with the library, 18 of those as its head.
Larsen received her bachelor’s degree at the University of New Mexico and her master’s degree at Pratt Institute in New York.
She has worked at the Albuquerque Public Library, the New York Public Library and at the Washoe County Public Library System in Reno, Nevada.
