A former U.S. Secretary of the Interior and REI CEO will give the commencement address to the Class of 2018 at the University of Puget Sound on May 13, the school announced Thursday.

Sally Jewell, who served in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet from 2013 to ‘17, will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree at the ceremony.

As interior secretary, Jewell oversaw about a fifth of the nation’s land, including National Parks.

“As a professional and as an individual, Ms. Jewell has dedicated her life to making positive change, blending critical analysis, sound judgement, and intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to serve her community,” said UPS president Isiaah Crawford in a statement released by UPS. “As a Pacific Northwesterner, she also shares our respect and love for this beautiful state and all it offers. Our graduates will benefit considerably from her experience and insights.”

Jewell, a University of Washington graduate, has climbed Mount Rainier seven times and is passionate about outdoor sports and public lands. She worked as president and CEO for outdoor retailer REI before accepting her federal appointment.
