A fire forced the evacuation of an Auburn motel on Friday morning as police responded to reports of a death.

Auburn police noticed the fire while responding to a report of the death at the Auburn Motel, 1202 Auburn Way South. Police later told KOMO-TV the death was the result of a medical issue and was unrelated to the fire.

At least three units were involved, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority. Police helped evacuate the hotel. There were no injuries, the fire authority tweeted.

The fire was extinguished and Auburn Way, which was closed during the fire, has reopened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
