About 4,000 customers lost power power Monday afternoon, according to Tacoma Public Utilities.

The cause is under investigation and TPU said power restored by 2:30 p.m.

The University of Washington Tacoma and Tacoma Public Schools were among the customers impacted.

A downed power line near the intersection of South 19th and South G streets drew a response from TPU crews Monday afternoon. A TPU spokewoman said it was not yet certain if the incident played a role in the outage.
