11-year-old disabled girl killed in Graham house fire is identified
An 11-year-old girl who died Friday after being trapped inside a burning Graham house was identified Wednesday as Lillian Recardo.
Investigators have not determined what started the fire in the 4300 block of 293rd Street Court. It did not appear to be a suspicious fire, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The fire broke out after Lillian’s 80-year-old grandmother left the girl home alone for a few minutes while she ran to a nearby store for groceries.
A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the house and called 911.
Two firefighters found the child inside and rescued her, but she died the next day at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Officials said the girl suffered from a disability that prevented her from getting out of the house on her own.
