Divers recover teen from Spanaway Lake, deputies say
Divers recovered a 13-year-old boy Sunday afternoon from Spanaway Lake after he had been underwater for about half an hour, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The Tacoma boy was in the swimming area when he went under about 3:30 p.m. while diving to grab a toy from underwater, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Pierce County sheriff’s divers found the boy about half an hour later. The boy was transported him to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, Troyer said.
The boy was at the lake with his church group, Troyer said.
