Two killed when car plunges off Pacific Avenue bridge in Tacoma

Two people were killed Wednesday evening when the vehicle they were in plunged off a Pacific Avenue bridge in Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The vehicle landed in a median in the Interstate 5 and Interstate 705/state Route 7 interchange.

A third person who was in the vehicle was injured and transported to a local hospital, according to the State Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. The vehicle landed on its top in the grassy medium.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The ramps to I-705 and SR 7 were closed while the crash was investigated.
