Pedestrian killed by Amtrak train in Steilacoom is identified

A man killed last week by an Amtrak train in Steilacoom has been identified.

Askia Rommul Williams, 33, was walking along train tracks at Sunnyside Beach when he was struck and killed about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Williams, believed to be homeless, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death was determined to be an accident, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The train was traveling from Portland to Seattle when the incident occurred.
