Senior citizen in critical condition after he interrupts home burglary in Gig Harbor

A 67-year-old man was in critical condition Friday after he interrupted a home burglary in Gig Harbor, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The man suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries, the department announced on social media.

About 1:15 p.m. Friday, a woman called 911 to say that she had found an injured adult family member inside his residence on 112th St. Ct. NW in Gig Harbor.

It appeared the house had been ransacked, according to detectives, leading them to believe the man had interrupted a burglary.

Those who live in the area are asked to check their home security systems for suspicions persons or vehicles between 10 p.m. Oct. 1 and 1:15 p.m. Oct. 2. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department can be reached at 253-798-7530.
