Driver hospitalized after traffic collision near Parkland

A two-car collision Monday on state Route 7 near Parkland left one driver in serious condition, Washington state troopers said.

The crash was reported about 5:40 a.m. on Route 7 near the intersection of 118th Street South, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Northbound and southbound traffic was temporarily blocked by the collision. Southbound lanes later reopened but northbound traffic was being diverted onto 119th Street South at 6:40 a.m., according to a tweet from trooper Robert Reyer.

Reyer said the driver injured in the crash was transported to the hospital. He said WSP, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to the incident. Reyer said the collision is being investigated.
